The Second Law
September 15, 2005 9:35 amThere are three exceedingly attractive women in my speech communication class this semester. Two seem completely uninterested in me. The third one, however, has managed to throw me into enough of a loop that I deem it necessary to write about my trials and tribulations on this here website. So, she’s cute, as stated previously. She also talks to me, a major plus. However, until recently, she’s been acting generally lukewarm, so I didn’t really give too much thought.
Today though, she did something that made me ponder. Her facebook profile states that she’s into rap- she claims that 50 Cent always puts her in a good mood (into a good mood? Hell, the best that $0.50 does to me is makes me merely wish to kill people painlessly, as opposed to killing them as painfully as possible…). She’s also a sorority girl, which automatically engages my pre-concieved notions of greek girls going for greek guys, and in general, an otherwise “popular” girl (309 UIllinois friends in Facebook). In other words, the type of girl who I am generally accustomed to recieving very little attention from. It is from this background that I now present my issue: today, I wore jeans, a green Aqua Teen Hunger Force T-Shirt, and a corduroy blazer. I suppose that could be construed as somewhat “indie” She made no effort to remove herself from a conversation with me as we were leaving class (a sign that used to be good, but now I understand that women actually talk to guys in a non-romantic sense, doesn’t mean nearly as much). However, during a lull in conversation, she started humming some song I’ve never heard of. I asked her about it, and she was talking about some indie band I’ve never heard of (easy to do; I’m not as into the indie music scene as I’d like to be). She then continued talking about it as if she were trying to prove some indie cred or something- which I tried to curtail as quick as possible, feeling like I was about to be made a bigger fool of than normal as my indie cred is most likely best measured with negative numbers.
Now, as you might be figuring from my above statements to her person, this threw me for a slight loop. I came up with a few possibilities, which I shall list from most to least likely:
- She just happens to have a thing for indie rock, and is uninterested in me. No biggie. I ought to simply keep a better watch on where my stereotypes lead me in life.
- She wishes to butter me up to get me to help her with her computer. Been there before, on more than one occasion by more than one girl- act all sweet and flirty long enough for me to whore myself out for computer fixing, and then stop talking to me. Again, no biggie. I did bring up the topic of me fixing her computer to her about two weeks ago, and told her to tell me to get back to me when she’s free. She hasn’t gotten back to me on it yet, and I doubt she will. Oh, well.
- She was genuinely trying to display qualities she thinks I would find attractive in an effort to impress me. I highly doubt this. Call me a cynic, but the above two options are simply much more plausible. I’m not so vain to think that a chick into rap and whatnot would go so far as to pick up some indie rock (almost as much of a 180 flip as one can imagine) simply to impress lil’ old me. She seems sweet and all, but I’m willing to put money on the idea that her sweetness is simply a result of a plesant personality than any warm fuzzy feelings towards my person.
Oh, well. Hopefully I’m wrong, but as the Second Law of Sexual Dynamics states, if I think she’s attracted to me, she’s actually not. So, short of her climbing onto my lap and humping vigourously, I get the feeling that I’ll forever be in flux. C’est la vie.

PAR-TAY!!!
September 10, 2005 9:34 amSo, I went out with the gentlemen to Joe’s house for another party. This kid throws amazing parties. We got there around 10:30pm and I got back from walking Krez back around 3:30. I lost my voice :). There was good tunes, and we were rocking out hard style. And I didn’t imbue any alcohol, but many thought I was smashed
So eitherway, here begins my latest tale of women woe. At said party, I met women. A lot of women. All of them at least more than reasonably attractive. They seemed all interested in me, and we were able to converse, which is all much more than I’m used to at parties. And of course, I just had to meet their boyfriends, because we’d get along just so well! Like, oh my God! Grr. OK, there were a couple of girls, who I knew the boyfriends of before. Then I saw the girl, who was cool. I then saw girl + boy. Then I was sad. Oh, well. As Mister Drunken Krez put it, “if they’re worth it, then they’re gonna be taken.” And in other news: I start my 3D animation project. Check back in a few weeks for possible outcome of said project.
