So, this past week, we’ve had two magnificent snow days. Apparently the campus was closed for a bit in ‘91 to be a C-U area shelter for a bit, with the last actual snow days being in ‘83. And, let me tell you, the snow was ZOMG!

Here’s a pic of the door I normally go in at work. That’s about 3.5′ tall snow drifts. I decided to go around the long way. I know, before you yell at me, that the campus as a whole was closed and that I wasn’t expected to go into work. However, I do only live about a block north of work, so I figured “Why the hell not?” It was an easy two days of work, and I earned me some cashy cash cash.

Also, to any of you who read this and are on campus a lot: anybody know why there’s a girl dressed as a French maid running around the Illini Union?

As you can very well see, at this point there are about two posts (including this one) from 2007, and the rest from 2005 and possibly earlier (depends on how far I’ve gotten by the time you read this). I made the mistake of rendering the old blog system impotent before pulling down WordPress’ own dump format, thinking “Well, I just have it bop through a MySQL dump.”

WRONG

So, now I’ve got a tab-delimited text file, and I’m hand copying over all the old shite. Oh, and did I mention all the formatting got lost? I might look into hacking together a perl script to get it over and properly timestamped (so posts from 2004-2005 don’t end up “from” 2007).

I’ve grown tired of my old web provider. A bit insecure, and just difficult to use. So, I created an account for myself with Dreamhost, and here I am. The old posts (and hopefully comments) will be ported over in full sometime Real Soon Now.
